Trailer Tuesday: Act of Valor

Today’s tailer, ‘Act of Valor.’

This is definitely an interesting concept for a movie. Take a tactical counter-terrorism war thriller, cast it with a combination of actual military members and actors, use live ammunition, and see what happens. The first time I saw this trailer, and that piano hit from the song “What If This Storm Ends” by Snow Patrol, I got the chills. I don’t know if this movie will be good or not, but its an interesting concept, and one I’m going to go to the theater to check out.

From what I understand, the film was originally intended as a recruitment video of sorts, but as the project evolved it turned into a full on feature. Parts of me feel like this should be titled “Modern Warfare: The Movie,” but I guess that’s just a byproduct of the modern military video game era.

The movie could be horrible. It could be good. It could be just okay. I don’t know. But there is an audience out there for accurate tactical combat on film. Look no further than the world of Tom Clancy books and games. If this is done well, and entertains, it could spawn a new sub genre of action films that raise the combat realism and accuracy to a whole new level.
