Four Pages: Exercise Four – Part 7

John walks in on Tom sitting on the couch, drink in hand. He looks devastated. Tom has been up all night. He tells John what happened. Tom needs to be alone. He locks himself in his room. John doesn’t leave him. He stays on the other side of the door. They talk. A long talk. We learn about how scared Tom is, about losing anyone. And now, he’s lost the only real friend he has. John says he has to go after her. Just go. Tom goes to the car. He pauses. Turns. He’s not going to see John again is he? John says just like when they were kids, it’s time for John to move away. They hug. John heads off.
